Xanit Hospital in Benalmadena is an important step for the health care in the area

The new international Xanit Hospital, which opened last December in Benalmádena, makes the town a reference for the best in health care. The new hospital has 111 rooms, the very latest in diagnostic and treatment technology for different illnesses and specialist cancer, cardiac and neurological institutes.

The building covers a surface of 13,000 square metres on five floors, with more than a hundred individual rooms, the most advanced applied medical technology and fully professional and experienced staff. The aim of the hospital is to provide the best in health care and research facilities in Europe, using state-of-the-art technology.

Benalmádena has the new international Xanit Hospital
The hospital will begin to function in January, at 80 to 90 per cent of its capacity and with some 200 members of staff. This number will rise to 400 when the hospital is fully operative. One of the advantages of the hospital is the fact that the entire diagnostic process can be carried out in the same place, thus avoiding the inconvenience of having to move from place to place, and speeding up the process. The hospital offers all the medical and surgical specialities, and is supported by three assistance centres in Torremolinos, Nerja and Fuengirola. Medical assistance, research and teaching are integrated into three novel institutes: the Cardiac Institute, directed by Doctor Manuel Concha Ruiz; the Oncology Institute, headed by Doctor Emilio Alba, and the Institute of Neuro-science, headed by Doctor Óscar Fernández. These aim to offer immediate response in an integrated way and the co-ordination of the most prevalent pathologies of the population.

How and when the idea of Xanit was born?
