Puebla Aida is the story of one man's dream.
To call him an architect would be too limiting: "designer", "visualiser", or "recreator" would be nearer.
Disillusioned - at times enraged - by the insensitive structure that have spoilt many a sunshine paradise, this one man dreamt of recreating the past, of building anew in a style that has evolved over the centuries through the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Moors and early Christians.
His village was a typical Andalusian village. A pueblo of houses, apparently higgledy-piggeldy in their layout, yet in truth meticulously planned to provide an idyllic setting. An environment offering variety and originality, created with the help of modern technology.
Craftsmanship would be paramount. So, too, would local material and techniques: old clay roof tiles, richly stained timber, hand painted ceramics and cool marble.
This was the dream that inspired the Puebla Aida of today.
The development of Puebla Aida started in 1984 - and has continued ever since. The final phase has been finalized during 2003.
Puebla Aida today
With more than 270 homes completed , the reality is even more remarkable than the dream. The village has its own pueblerinos (villagers), all of whose homes capitalize on the region's most precious commodity - sunshine.
Narrow alleyways wind past bougainvillea, hibiscus and mimosa. Short flights of steps arrive at beautifully panelled doors. Archways lead to neat squares of flowers and fountains, paved in hand-made tiles and bounded by white rendered walls and Roman brickwork. Everywhere you look there are balconies with hand wrought balustrades, bedecked with extravagant blooms.
Today Puebla Aida is a living environment which exceeds all expectations.

Puebla Aida - the urbanisation
Puebla Aida is an award winning urbanisation, situated above the Mijas Golf course, only 10 minutes drive from the center of Fuengirola.
Puebla Aida is widely considered one of the best resorts on the Costa del Sol, with its beautiful Andalucian design and interesting walkways. There are several communal swimming pools in the pueblo, and it is just a short walk walk from the 5 star Hotel Byblos.

Driving instructions to Puebla Aida
1. Take the motorway N-340 and turn off at "Fuengirola - Coin"
2. Head towards Coin and turn right to Mijas Golf
3. Turn at Mijas Golf and continue op the hill, go straight in the round about.
