
Fuengirola Information
Right by the mediteranean sea you find Fuengirola, which is 32 km from Malaga and 8 km from Mijas.
Fuengirola is a popular town for tourists, and the town has come along way since the days of being just a simple fishing village. The fishing still does take place and this you can experience in one of the many local restaurants where they serve great fish and seafood dishes.
The town is a great mix of both local Spanish residents and foreigners. Many who actually lives here either part of the year or permanent.
Because of the great mix of locals and foreigners you have here a great selection of supermarkets all with very competitive prices.
You can also visit the local market which is every Tuesday. Here you will find everything from clothes, shoes, herbs and spices and olivies. One corner of the market is dedicated to fruit and vegatables stalls where the smell of tropical fruits tempts you.
Fuengirola attractions
Paseo Maritimo
The esplanade in Fuengirola is called Paseo Maritimo de Espana, and is one of the longest in the country. It is almost 7 km and overlooks the beaches, with the lovely seafood restaurants along the way.
On this stretch you find the Marina as well, with all types of boats. Here as well you have a mix of bars and restaurants.
Every Sunday there is a street market next to the marina
Sohail Castle
A very interesting building in Fuengirola, and inside the castle is a small museum showing the defferent aspects of the castle.
Opening hours are:
10 am – 2 pm
6 pm – 9 pm
Closed on Mondays
Currently the castle is used for cultural events like the Festival Ciudad de Fuengirola.

Fuengirola – family day out.
Parque Aquatico is a good day out for kids as well as adults.
5-10 min drive inland from Fuengirola you find some of the better golf courses such as Mijas Golf, La Cala Golf og Alhaurin Golf.
