Originally Calehonda was an unbanisation, but today the area has developed to become a small town. On 
Avenida de Espana which is the main street in Calahonda you find both shops and restaurants.

Calahonda is also big on sports activities. Club del Sol offers 12 tennis courts, a fitness centre, squash etc. If you are more to golf there are a total of 10 golfcourses within a radius of 10 km.

Calahonda is located 33 km from Malaga airport. A few kilometers east of Calahonda is Puerto Cabopina with nice restaurants and bars. The local market is every Wednesday and Friday in front of Calypso shopping centre.

Schools in Calahonda
There are also good schools in the area. There is a nursery school in Calahonda, and both private primary and secondary schools are located nearby. The EIC (English International School) is only about 10 min drive away. Local spanish schools are also within easy reach, both private catholic schools or or public schools.
