
The square at the townhall is almost at the highest point in town. You have to climb several stairs to get there. Each year on the last Sunday before christmas they have the traditional Fiesta de la Migas. (the celebration of Migas) where they serve free wine and migas (migas is fried breadcrumbs with meat and spices). The fiesta takes place on the big parking lot at the entrance to the town.
Torrox location
The town is between the mountains, Sierra Tejeda and Sierra Almijara. The rivers río Torrox, Huit and Manzano run through the town. The area consists of manu country properties. The name originates from the arabic word Turrus, which means tower.
Torrox is originally an old roman town which originates from the I and IV a.c. At the lighthouse El faro in Torrox Costa they have found an old graveyard, ovens, the remains of properties, and many others things from roman times.
The area of Torrox stretches all the way dwn to the sea and along the cost where Torrox Costa and El Morche is important tourist centres.
The houses in torrox is, like in most places in Axarquia, very well kept. The rising tourism in the area, and interest in properties from foreigners is predicted to help the future of Torrox
