It seems to happen every summer. Properties for long term rental becoming available during spring and early summer are converted to short term holiday lets to maximise the income for the owner. 

After the high season, most properties become available for the long term rental market again. This means when the Spanish holiday season is over by end of August, more properties will enter the market.
